About the Program

This project will consist of a 10 week program of diversionary activities during school holidays based in the Youth Drop in Centre in the Armadale CBD. The activities and programs aim to reduce antisocial behaviour, reduce opportunistic crime and prevent and educate about the harms caused by drug and alcohol abuse. Programs will develop social competencies, life skills and encourage community connection through participation and building positive peer and community relationships.

About the Program

The Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre will coordinate Home Safety audits for local senior residents to identify potential changes that could be made to make their homes safer and reduce the risk of potential crime. The program also aims to increase confidence of seniors to stay in their own homes. The centre will conduct an education seminar and survey to establish opinions about community safety and other projects that could benefit seniors.

Indigenous Hip Hop Projects 2011 West Kimberley Community Workshops

About the Program

Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHHP) Community Workshops aim to engage young people in remote communities using a prevention and early intervention approach to facilitate social change. The project targets young people in local schools as well as those disengaged from mainstream education, many of whom are considered 'at risk'. IHHP use the energy and enthusiasm of hip hop music, dance, and safe-talk to address crime prevention and promote community safety.

About the Program

This project will enable the Bunbury Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC) to become a Choose Respect organisation and run Choose Respect workshops with the staff, volunteers and local young people attending. These workshops empower people, by encouraging them to use Choose Respect in all aspects of their lives and giving them the opportunity to break away from negative cycles of antisocial behaviour and crime.

S.O.S. Supporting our Seniors and Disabled Inc

About the Program

Operation "Home-Safe" will enable SOS to provide crime prevention and emergency education to seniors and disadvantaged from the local community. Information will be provided in collaboration with WA Police and FESA. In addition, surveys, education and practical upgrades to prevent break-ins and criminal activity will be made to enable seniors to stay in their homes securely.

Keep It Safe Program

About the Program

This project will see the implementation of "Keep it Safe Initiative Program" in conjunction with local law enforcement officers, for all residents highlighting the need to reduce burglary and theft related offences from both urban and rural properties in the Shire. The project will include the distribution of anti-burglary packs that will include ultra-violet security marker pens, property marked stickers and useful home security advice literature which will be given out to those deemed most vulnerable in the community.

Neighbourhood Watch - Phase II

About the Program

Neighbourhood Watch is a community-based program designed to reduce the incidence of preventable crime and make the community safer. Having been successfully introduced in the CBD last year, it will now be extended to residential areas of Manjimup. Area Coordinators and Street Representatives will be recruited, trained and assisted to get to know their neighbours and encourage them to notice, and report, suspicious and/or criminal activities to Police.
