About the Program
This project will create a safe environment that is stimulating and educates children about bike and road safety. The grant will provide resources to create a road like bike training course that will teach the appropriate skills so that children with disabilities can learn road safety skills in a controlled environment before venturing out into the community. The environment will be fun and include: traffic lights, stop and give way signs and a pedestrian crossing.

About the Program
Compton Primary School will run a full term bike and road safety program aiming to provide the children of the school with the knowledge of road rules and bike safety so they can travel to school safely. We feel that rural school kids lack a certain road sense due to the lack of riding areas with stoplights, speed zones, road signs etc.

About the Program
This project would enable year 5 students to travel to a road safety school. This facility gives them instruction via group discussion and videos, then time in a safe environment to practice their cycling and pedestrian skills. Students will then take their learnings back to the school where they will have discussion with local police and create an activity book. Students will then pass the activity books onto the local kindy.

About the Program
One of the school's community action teams along with their buddy class intend to produce a publication and DVD for students, parents and the wider community to promote road safety around the school. The school will pursue the idea of a walking bus to promote walking to school on a regular basis to reduce traffic around the school.

Kidsafe SA Child Car Restraint Checking Project

About the Program
This project will enable Kidsafe SA to provide a child car restraint checking day in the major car park of Centro Colonnades on National Kidsafe Day - Tuesday 25th October 2011. To complement this service, Kidsafe SA staff will produce written handouts and provide verbal advice to parents and carers about the correct use and fitting of child car restraints, the latest child restraint legislation and keeping their children safe in the car.

About the Program
The students at Moorak primary school will be given the knowledge and skills to ride their bikes safely on rural roads. The Rural Riders project will help students to learn the correct skills for riding on rural roads, learn about bicycle maintenance and the importance of correct clothing and head wear when riding. This project will also educate parents to ensure that students receive the correct and consistent information about road use.

About the Program
The 'S.T.O.P and Get your L's' project involves engaging members of the newly arrived Bhutanese community to assist them to overcome literacy difficulties and cultural barriers to attaining their Learner's Permit. This will be done by developing a culturally appropriate learning resource, which is translated in to their native language of Nepali and delivers in partnership with the Bhutanese Association of South Australia.
