The Fresh Hope Childrens' Road Safety Program

About the Program
This project will enable the association to establish a children's bicycle circuit with regulatory traffic signs to educate children from three to ten years who have come from dysfunctional and underprivileged lifestyles into Fresh Hope. Traffic education would be conducted by a staff member and include traffic rules, meaning of road signs and road safety via verbal and practical instruction on the circuit establishing a sound foundation in preparation for the children's future safety as vehicle drivers.

About the Program
This program will provide bicycle training for students from Year 4 to 7. The program is designed to complement other road safety activities undertaken by the school. Students will be taught to ride safely in a variety of situations, particularly riding on the road under normal traffic conditions. The program will provide students with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be able to independently travel to and from school on a bicycle.

About the Program
This project will enable KENG to offer road safety workshops to Primary School aged children during the September/October and December/January school holidays. The car park will be utilised for this project to simulate a real life road way. We will offer one workshop in bicycle safety and one in scooter safety. A total of two workshops each school holidays. The workshops will encourage road safety and awareness, healthy lifestyles and responsible independence.

Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) is a one-day event for Year 11 students which informs them of the financial costs of owning a car, the dangers of driving, the hazards involved in riding in a car with a driver influenced by alcohol, drugs or fatigue, and the physical and mental effects of accidents on people.

About the Program
The Independence in the Community Program will ensure that people with vision loss on the Gold Coast can safely and effectively move around their community without fear of disorientation or personal safety. This program will reduce the danger of accidents involving this group, and will give them the independence and mobility to live fulfilling lives within the community, therefore helping to create a safer and more inclusive community.
